Almost immediately afterward, Nami collapses from a high fever, and as none of the crew know enough about medicine, they decide to find a doctor to save her. While sailing the ocean, Nami notices a storm coming in, and alerts the rest of the crew, allowing them to quickly take action and launch the Thousand Sunny away with a Coup De Burst. Afterward the film introduces Luffy and his crew. Wapol, the king at the time, fled the land with the 20 best doctors, not even bothering to fight back. The film begins with a brief flashback in the history of the Great Pirate Age, during which we see how Drum Island was attacked by the Blackbeard Pirates. It is the second film to focus on Chopper (after the third film), as it is a retelling of the Drum Island storyline from the manga. The New Year's Eve airing also ended with a special message from the Straw Hat Pirates to the fans, to show their gratitude for the fifteenth anniversary. The new footage included adaptations of the Drum Island installments of From the Decks of the World. To commemorate the 15th anniversary of the One Piece television anime, a 2014 special edition of the movie, featuring new footage, aired on Fuji TV and its affiliates on December 31, 2014. This film was nominated for the Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year in 2008, but was beaten by Hayao Miyazaki's Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea. The film reveals that he too had been exiled from Drum Island and is seeking his revenge. ![]() In addition to Wapol, Chess and Kuromarimo, Wapol's older brother, Musshuru appears, with a new Devil Fruit power that allows him to produce poisonous spores. In Chopper’s case, we have a reindeer who ate the Human-Human Fruit and gained the power to transform into a human.Episode of Chopper Plus: Bloom in Winter, Miracle Sakura is the 9th One Piece film. We’ve met many humans who have eaten Zoan-type Devil Fruits and gained the ability to transform into a dragon, or a leopard, or a giraffe, or a mammoth, or even a freaking tyrannosaurus rex. The Human-Human Fruit ( Hito-Hito no Mi, in Japanese) is a Zoan-type Devil Fruit, which means that it gives the user the ability to transform into a species of animal. The inner workings of that Human-Human Fruit, however, can be difficult to remember. They’re just one-sentence descriptions about the world which make the average person go, “Wait, what?” The simplest one is: “The telephones are living snails.” But given that one of my top three characters is Tony Tony Chopper, I also like: “The ship doctor is a reindeer who ate the Human-Human Fruit.” There’s a lot to chew on there, isn’t there? Sometimes I also add that this reindeer struggles with trauma related to intimacy, especially when you first meet him-just for added depth. When trying to indoctrinate people into the wild and wonderful world of One Piece, I have a few quick sales pitches ready to entice them. ![]()
